Since 2010 we have provided full scholarships to impoverished Haitian children (years 1-2: 170; 3-7:100). This program is voluntarily managed by community leaders and utilizes local schools. The goal is to keep these children safe from the violence of the streets.
We now seek funds for year #8 (2017-18). We do this in a CRS-aided section of Port-Au-Prince-Grand Ravine- and include one Catholic school, St. Mary Magdalen.

Sign this petition to Pres. Obama to reverse the policy to deport Haitians back to Haiti. After the earthquake a special status was granted, and just before hurrican Matthew, this was revoked as Haitian refugees from Brazil (where they went after the earthquake) have been stopped at the California/Mexico border. https://petitions.whitehouse.gov//petition/tell-president-obama-reverse-deportation-policy-against-haitian-refugees
NOTE: According to BAJI (Black Alliance for Just Immigration) Jeh Johnson of the US Homeland Security has just announced that he is suspending the new order to deport Haitians seeking refuge in So. California from Brazil. He noted that the hurricane has worsened conditions in Haiti so that it would be wrong to send them back. Nonetheless we need to have signatures for this petition because we need a permanent solution for Haitians equal to other refugees:
