LENTEN GUIDELINES
Ash Wednesday and Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence from meat and any meat brother, etc.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are fasting days (1 main meal, 2 smaller meals, no snacking - for ages 18 - 59.
Practices of Lent
Traditionally the Church calls the faithful to a more intentional time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
Spend more time in prayer - use the Little Black Book reflection; read the Readings of the Day.
Fasting means no meat on Fridays and only one full meal on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting includes refraiing from behavior that distract from your relationship with God, such as gossping or gaming or social media or . . . (you decide).
Almsgiving is not only about giving money but also giving time, engaging in actions of solidarity with the poor. Check out the Rice Bowl giving this year. For more information: www.crsricebowl.org
